Fish on Friday

Fish on a Friday is a bit of a tradition I suppose - although I think it's more likely to be on a Thursday in this house, and then not accompanied by chips! (Shame!)

I have posted about the fish you can feed at Neds Beach on Lord Howe before, but these are a set of pictures I really like.  The blue fish is a Blue Fish - Girella cyanea - and what a great looking fish it is.
I like the abstract feel of these pictures.

The grey fish around the Blue Fish are mullet of some sort.

You can find more pictures of animals from around the world over at Saturday Critters.

  1. Oh, Stewart...These fist look so happy in their different world. The pictures so have an abstract feel to them. The way you have captured the movements of the water as the fish swim. That second shot is such a treat for the eyes. No detail has been left out. No wonder you were out with your camera. I know you were in heaven shooting these pictures. Yes, I deleted gobs of the same huge photos this morning from my blog, and was happy to hear from you that it was looking normal again. Boy, was that a shocker at 6AM this morning. Couldn’t sleep so just got up, grabbed and laptop, and then wondered what in the world I was seeing. Blogger did a job on me this time. genie

  2. I agree about the abstract nature of these shots. Were you feeding them?

  9. Wonderful fishy pictures Stewart!! We have blue fish here but they aren't blue and are pretty fishy to the taste..Don't shoot me but I prefer water and sea life to birds..I do appreciate the trouble it takes to photograph birds and they are usually prettier than fish..I'm just a water person so I really loved this post !!! Where you feeding these fish??

  13. Awesome post! I never thought about doing a "fish on Friday" post but that's clever. :-) Perhaps after I move out of the desert I will see more fish to photograph. I hated missing Saturday's Critters this weekend, but I am taking a break partly because of illness (am recovering now, thankfully!), having weekend company, and also a pretty full schedule with a lot of Dr. visits for hubby right now. But, I'll be back next time....and if I miss WBW this week, again I promise to be back the following week! Have a great one! Loved the photos!
